About BinWeek
An independent bin day finder for England, built so the answer to “what bin is it this week?” takes ten seconds.
BinWeek helps you find which bin goes out and when. Put in your postcode and, where your council allows it, we ask the council’s own bin day service for your next collections and show them with the bin names your council uses. Each council also has a page explaining its bin colours, what goes in each one, Christmas changes and how to report a missed bin.
Who we are, and who we are not
BinWeek is run by an independent publisher, Andrew Pickett. BinWeek is independent and is not run by, or affiliated with, any council. Always check your council’s own page if something looks wrong. We do not use council crests, logos or government styling, and nothing here is an official notice.
Why it exists
Bin days are simple until you have to find them. Councils each have their own site, their own wording and their own colours, and the answer is often three clicks and an address search away. We put the answer first, say where it came from and when we last checked it, and send you to the council whenever it has the final say.
How we keep it honest
- Every fact on a council page shows its source and the date we read it. The “last checked” date is the oldest date among the facts on the page, so it cannot flatter us.
- We always show the council’s own name for each bin next to ours, because colours and names differ from one council to the next.
- If a council’s site is down or we cannot reach it, we say so and link to the council instead of guessing.
- Pages that do not yet have properly sourced facts are marked as not yet written up, and kept out of search engines until they do.
The details are on the how we get and check our data page.
How BinWeek pays its way
We plan to show adverts on guides and council information pages. We will not show them next to the postcode box, on your results, or in reminder messages. Adverts use Google’s own consent message, and we do not set cookies of our own.
