Epsom and Ewell bin collection days

Epsom and Ewell calls the service Simply Weekly Recycling. The green bin, glass box, textile bag, food caddy and black refuse bin are all collected every week. Garden waste is every two weeks. Bins go to a visible spot at the edge of the property from 6.30am. Bank holiday Mondays and Good Friday are normal collection days.

Food waste and the national recycling rules

Epsom and Ewell collects food waste every week. Food waste goes out every week in a caddy. All food is accepted except bulk liquids such as large amounts of milk or soup. Packaging stays out. Food can be wrapped in a plastic bag. The same weekly round takes the green recycling bin, the glass box, a labelled textile bag and the black refuse bin.

If your bin was missed

Report a genuine miss on the council form. Green recycling, glass, textiles and black refuse are noted for the crew and collected on the same day the following week. Leave excess recycling, or refuse if the black bin was missed, in a clearly labelled bag next to the bin or box. A bin with the wrong materials is rejected with a notice on it, not collected as a miss. Food or garden waste that was genuinely missed is returned within two working days of the report. Bins have to be in a clearly visible place at the edge of the property by 6.30am. Collections run as normal on bank holiday Mondays and Good Friday.

Good to know in Epsom and Ewell

  • The green bin takes paper, card, cans, cartons, aerosols, foil, squeezy metal and plastic tubes, and plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays. It does not take glass, food, textiles, plastic bags or other plastics.
  • Glass is bottles and jars only, in the box. Textiles, clothing, shoes and accessories go in a clear sealed bag that is labelled, next to the other recycling, not in the green bin.
  • The black bin is for what the other bins cannot take, and it must not contain food. Food goes in the caddy, without packaging. A plastic bag used to wrap the food is allowed. Large amounts of milk or soup are not.
  • The overview does not list which garden items are accepted or rejected, and it does not give a price. It links a garden waste terms PDF and a separate garden page. Flats are told to use the labels on their bins and the service leaflet rather than this house list.
  • If the green bin, glass box, textiles or black bin are genuinely missed, the crew comes back on the same weekday the next week, and a labelled bag of extra recycling or refuse beside the container is taken too. Food and garden misses are a return within two working days. A contamination notice means the bin was rejected, not missed.
  • The council says the tip is run by Surrey County Council and that queries about it go there. This page does not name the site or its rules.

Bin questions in Epsom and Ewell

What goes in the Epsom and Ewell green bin?

Paper, card, cans, cartons, aerosols, foil, squeezy tubes, and plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays. Not glass, food, textiles, plastic bags or other plastics. It is collected every week.

What time do Epsom and Ewell bins need to be out?

By 6.30am, in a clearly visible place at the edge of the property. The council collects as usual on bank holiday Mondays and Good Friday.

Will Epsom and Ewell come back for a missed bin?

Green recycling, glass, textiles and black refuse are collected again the following week if the miss was genuine. Food and garden waste are returned within two working days of the report. A notice on the bin means it was contaminated and was not a miss.
