Rushmoor, covering Aldershot and Farnborough, empties a green rubbish bin every fortnight and a blue recycling bin every fortnight. Glass bottles and jars go in a box, or a purple bin where bins are shared, on the same fortnight as the blue bin. Food caddies are every week. Rushmoor collects food waste every week. Food waste is collected every week from most homes in Aldershot and Farnborough, in a black 23-litre outdoor caddy. A small kitchen caddy or box can be lined with newspaper or a plastic bag. Biodegradable liners are not accepted, because every liner is removed before the food is processed and plastic comes away more cleanly. The food is taken to an anaerobic digestion facility. The council says around 70% of food wasted in the UK comes from households.

Garden waste is a paid-for service. A brown wheelie bin is £50 once a year, renewed when the council emails or writes. Compostable paper sacks are sold separately and used as you need them. The garden page does not give a sack price. Collections are every 2 weeks. Put the bin or paper sacks at the edge of the property by 7am. If you do not join, garden waste can go to a Hampshire County Council household waste recycling centre, or some of it can be composted at home. Collected garden waste goes to a composting centre near Basingstoke and is turned into Pro-Grow.

If a bin was not emptied on collection day, Rushmoor asks you to report it. The collections page does not set a number of days for that report. The same page says collections usually start at 7am and finish by mid-afternoon, and bins should be at the edge of the property before 7am, or the night before. Some roads start earlier: Fleet Road and Ash Road at 6.30am, Victoria Road and Lower Farnham Road at 6am, and North Lane at 6.15am. In very hot weather every road may start at 6am. Customer services is 01252 398 399. The food recycling helpline is 01252 398 164.
