Food waste and the national recycling rules

Tandridge collects food waste every week. Food waste is collected every week. Use the silver caddy indoors and the larger green caddy outdoors. A plastic bag, a compostable bag or a little newspaper can line it. Black bin bags and plastic food packaging cannot. For 80% of properties the food vehicle is not the rubbish or recycling vehicle. The food page does not list which foods are accepted. The missed page points item questions at the Surrey Recycles search tool.

Garden waste

Garden waste is a paid-for service. From 1 April 2026 the annual price is £85 per bin, paid in advance by debit or credit card. Direct debit stops at the next renewal. The bin is 240 litre. Biffa still collects, every fortnight, from the edge of the property. Bank holidays do not move the day, except a two-week stop over Christmas. Put the bin out by 7am. The council now does the administration.
