Causeway Coast and Glens bin collection days

Causeway Coast and Glens collects a blue recycling bin and a brown bin for food and garden waste together. The blue bin takes paper, card, cans, aerosols, cartons, plastic bottles and food containers, foil trays and mixed glass bottles and jars. Cool ashes from a coal or wood fire are the only black-bin item the HTML pages name. Collection intervals are not written on those pages. The council publishes 2026 black and blue calendars as downloads for four areas, and a brown calendar on request.

Garden waste

Garden waste is collected free of charge. Food and garden waste share the brown bin. A kitchen food caddy costs £3. Caddy liners are not sold on that page: tie a liner to the brown bin handle and the crew leaves one roll, or collect a roll at a household recycling centre. Kitchen roll can line the caddy, or food can be scraped straight into the brown bin.

If your bin was missed

The bin collections page does not give a deadline for reporting a missed bin. It says to contact the depot for your area with collection queries, and to use the bins and recycling contact page for a collection query or recycling advice. Present the bin no later than 7.00am. The route order can change, so the bin may not be emptied at the same time as last week. If you are unsure whether an item is allowed, the blue and brown pages give recycle@causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk and 028 2766 0248.

Good to know in Causeway Coast and Glens

  • Leave the bin out no later than 7.00am. Crews may change the order of the route, so the time of day will not always match the previous collection.
  • The blue bin list refuses plastic raw meat trays, polystyrene, nappies, tissues, televisions, microwaves, computer monitors, Pyrex, crystal, window glass, plastic bags and food waste. The council says the list is not exhaustive.
  • Brown-bin food can go in a fully compostable liner. Garden waste on that page includes grass, leaves, cuttings, shrubs, weeds, twigs and small branches, and refuses soil, rubble, plant pots, animal faeces and ash.
  • A kitchen caddy is £3. Liners are left if you tie one to the brown bin handle, or you can collect a roll at a household recycling centre.
  • There is no HTML page listing the black bin. A guessed address, black-bin-recycling, returned 404. The 2026 black and blue calendars are PDFs for Ballymoney, Coleraine, Limavady and Moyle. This entry does not copy dates out of those files.
  • The old master-list URL for blue bin calendars is not the current collections section. The live section is under Bins and Recycling, then Bin Collections.
  • Garden waste on its own can also be taken to a household recycling centre. The bin pages link to that section but do not list the sites on the brown bin page itself.
