Clackmannanshire bin collection days

Clackmannanshire's green bin is the rubbish bin, emptied every four weeks, out from 7am with the lid down and the handles facing the road. Paper and card go in a grey bin, plastics and cans in a blue bin, food in a grey caddy collected weekly, plants in a brown bin, and glass bottles to a community point. Forthbank takes electricals, batteries and soil.

Garden waste

Garden waste arrangements vary across the area. Plant waste goes in the brown bin. The green and blue pages do not say whether that bin is charged. Soil is reused or taken to Forthbank Recycling Centre rather than described as brown-bin waste.

If your bin was missed

Use the self-service missed waste collection form, or phone Customer Services on 01259 450000. Bins are not classed as missed until after 4pm on collection day. A tag means the bin was too heavy, overfilled with the lid up, or contaminated, and the council will not return for a tagged or late bin until the next scheduled day. The calendar shows blue, green, grey and brown dates. Reports are considered if they are made by 5.30pm on the next working day. A genuine miss is normally returned within 5 working days.

Good to know in Clackmannanshire

  • Green here means residual waste. A green bin with the lid up, judged overheavy, or holding recyclables is tagged and not emptied until the problem is fixed.
  • The blue bin is also every four weeks, from 7am, handles outward and lid down. Containers have to be empty. Bags, film and crisp packets are refused and can go in the green bin. Some supermarkets take soft plastics.
  • Food is the grey kerbside caddy, collected weekly, which is why the green bin page says to use it to reduce flies. The blue and green pages do not list individual foods.
  • Glass bottles and jars are not in the blue bin. They go to a community recycling point. Window glass and crockery are green-bin items.
  • Excess waste is not lifted at the kerbside. Forthbank Recycling Centre takes it, along with small electricals and batteries. Waste services are at Kilncraigs, Greenside Street, Alloa, FK10 1EB, on 01259 450000 or customerservice@clacks.gov.uk.
  • The grey bin for paper is named on the green bin page without its own item list. This page does not invent newspaper and cardboard examples for it.

Every four weeks. Put it out from 7am with the lid down and the handles facing outwards. The blue recycling bin is also every four weeks. The food caddy is weekly.

When is a Clackmannanshire bin not a missed bin?

Before 4pm on collection day, or if it was tagged for being too heavy, overfilled with the lid up, or holding the wrong materials. Those wait until the next scheduled day. A real miss should be reported by 5.30pm the next working day.

Where do glass bottles go?

Not in the blue bin. The green and blue pages both say glass bottles and jars go to a community recycling point. Small electricals and batteries go to Forthbank or a shop that takes them.
