Bassetlaw bin collection days

Bassetlaw alternates a green household waste bin and a blue recycling bin, each every two weeks, and collects a subscribed brown garden bin every two weeks in season. A new black bin takes glass on a 6 week cycle. The what-bin page states those frequencies and does not list what goes in the blue bin or the green bin, apart from plastic bags being allowed only in the green one. The item lists sit behind a game on that page, which did not come through as a list.

Garden waste

Garden waste is a paid-for service. The 2026 season costs £45.00 and the fee includes a 240 litre wheelie bin. New subscriptions for 2026 are closed. Previous customers can renew until Monday 4th May 2026. New applications usually close in July. This year they closed earlier because of pressure on the crews, the new glass round, and a shortage of brown bins from the manufacturer. Collections are every two weeks from the beginning of March to the end of November. Put the bin on the kerbside by 6am and take it back after it is emptied. The brown bin page does not list grasses, leaves or branches. It points to the what-bin page, and that page does not list them either.

If your bin was missed

The what-bin page does not give a reporting form or a deadline. It says a collected bin was out by 6am, with the lid closed, with only accepted items inside, and with nothing beside it. Plastic bags are the exception, and only in the green household waste bin. Do not overfill. The glass page adds that the first glass rounds are expected after 7am because the specialist vehicles are noisier. Customer services are on 01909 533 533. Assisted collections, including the new black bin if you already have help with the blue and green, are on 01909 534 501. Bins go on the kerbside by 6am. The pages read here do not say how many days you have to report a miss.

Good to know in Bassetlaw

  • Glass bins are 180 litre, smaller than the green and blue bins, which the glass page calls 240-litre. There is no charge for the glass bin. The council expects one per household. Bins already delivered can be filled, but regular collections were not due before 13th April 2026, starting where the bins went out first. The full set of dates was still to be written to residents.
  • Three specialist vehicles collect the glass, and those rounds are expected to begin after 7am. Lids, corks and stoppers come off when they will. Labels stay on. Anything that is not a bottle or jar, such as Pyrex or a mirror, goes in the green bin or to a household waste recycling centre. The page does not name the centres.
  • Garden waste for 2026 is £45.00, with the 240 litre bin included. New sign-ups for the season are closed. Renewals for people who already have a brown bin run until Monday 4th May 2026, on 01909 533 533. The season is the beginning of March to the end of November. The brown bin page does not print a plant list.
  • If you already have an assisted collection, the black bin is added in the cab system and does not need a sticker. Flats are told individually how glass will work. A lost or damaged black bin is reported to customer services.
  • The national schedule gives Bassetlaw until 1 October 2027 for a separate weekly food collection. None of the bin pages read here describe a food caddy.
  • As of 3 October 2026 the blue recycling bin's yes and no lists were not on the pages that loaded. The what-bin page only says it is collected every two weeks, alternating with the green bin.
