Bromsgrove bin collection days

Bromsgrove's grey bin is for rubbish that can go to landfill or an energy-from-waste plant, and the brown bin is a paid garden subscription. The colour guide does not state a single collection frequency. If a round is missed, the council says the next collection is usually two weeks later. Food waste is still in the grey bin: a separate food service is planned for the 2026/27 financial year, not running yet.

Food waste and the national recycling rules

Bromsgrove does not collect food waste every week. As of 3 October 2026 Bromsgrove had not started a separate food waste collection. The bins and recycling page says the council is working towards a food waste service during the 2026/27 financial year. Until then, food waste is listed among the items for the grey rubbish bin.

Garden waste

Garden waste is a paid-for service. The colour guide treats garden waste as a subscription and does not state the price. Bin liners must not be used in the brown bin. Composting takes 14 weeks, and the council says even biodegradable liners are not compatible.

If your bin was missed

Leave the correct bin at the kerbside for 7am. Bromsgrove says that if you do, it is emptied more than 99.9% of the time. A bin may be left if it is the wrong bin, it was put out after 7am, it is not at the kerbside, it is too heavy, or it contains the wrong waste. The crew will not return until the next collection day, which is usually in two weeks, and excess waste has to go to the tip. Check the service status page before you report, in case of a known problem. Report a missed bin within 48 hours. The council says it cannot return after that.

Good to know in Bromsgrove

  • Grey-bin rubbish is taken by Severn Waste Services to EnviRecover at Hartlebury, where it is burned to generate electricity for the National Grid. Medical waste that is allowed in the household bin may qualify for an extra bin. The council asks people to complete an application.
  • The green-lidded, or all-green, recycling bin takes paper and cardboard, tins and cans, glass bottles and jars, plastic bottles, plastic pots, tubs and trays, and milk and juice cartons. The colour guide does not publish a leave-out list for that bin. It points to a recycling app and to Worcestershire County Council's A to Z. This page therefore does not invent rejects for the green bin.
  • Brown-bin garden waste goes to the Hill and Moor composting facility near Pershore. It is shredded, composted in rows, screened, and sold as a soil conditioner called Greengrow. The process takes 14 weeks. Do not use a liner, even a biodegradable one. Branches must be no thicker than 10cm.
  • The 2026 garden round starts in the week commencing 23 February, or on 2 March 2026, depending on the schedule. A calendar for grey and green bins can be requested from the bin day page. If a postcode does not appear in the address search, Bromsgrove asks you to complete an online form.
  • Worcestershire County Council runs the household recycling centre. Bromsgrove's hub links to the county pages and to tip permits. Landlords are pointed at a separate note on tenant waste.
  • Routes can change, a vehicle may leave to empty and come back, and a garden-waste vehicle is not the grey-bin crew. Snow, extreme heat, breakdowns and road closures can delay a round. Check today's service status before reporting a miss.
