Flintshire bin collection days

Flintshire's kerbside service is a closed wheelie bin for refuse, recycling bags, and a weekly food caddy. Bags and bins go out by 7am. Side waste is not taken, and a lid that will not shut means the bin stays. The food page is the place that puts a time on the black bin: it talks about food otherwise sitting for two weeks in that bin. Garden waste is a separate £38.00 subscription.

Garden waste

Garden waste is a paid-for service. The garden waste charge is £38.00 whether you pay online, by phone, or at a Flintshire Connects office. Subscribers get a new yellow sticker. The old RFID sticker is not used for the new service period. Collections stay fortnightly for nine months, and the council has added monthly collections in December 2026, January 2027 and February 2027. The sticker pack is described as arriving within 10 days, and the same page asks you to allow up to 14 working days because of mail delays. A brown bin appears on the bin-day checker only after you have paid. The page does not list grass, leaves, soil or food.

If your bin was missed

Flintshire asks you to report a missed collection from the next day, because of a technical issue, and because a vehicle may come back later. Before reporting, the bin should have been out by 7am at the point where the drive meets the road, the right container on the right day, with the lid closed and no side waste. Food caddies must not be lined with plastic or a non-Flintshire biobag. Assisted collections are exempt from the 7am and correct-day checks. Recycling is weekly, so the crew does not come back for a missed recycling collection. Black bin, food, garden and absorbent hygiene crews aim to return within 3 working days. A Friday collection starts that count on Monday. From the next day. Black bin, food, garden and hygiene returns are aimed at within 3 working days, subject to resources. Recycling is not returned.

Good to know in Flintshire

  • Refuse has to be inside the wheelie bin. Extra bags beside it are not collected. The missed-collection page says side waste is normally put into the emptied black bin for the next time, and that a household of 6 or more occupants can ask for a larger black bin.
  • The only kerbside recycling list in the HTML pages is the missed-collection heading: tins, plastics, glass, cardboard and paper only. A downloadable leaflet is linked from the kerbside page, and that file is not the list used here.
  • Food caddies and compostable liners are free. Liners come from the council, not from plastic bags or other biobags. If you run out, the missed-bin page says you can use newspaper as a temporary lining and order more liners. Collection day is the same day as the other recycling, by 7am. Streetscene's number on the food page is 01352 701234.
  • A reported missed recycling collection is recorded against the address and is not collected later. You wait for the next week or take it to a household recycling centre or bring site.
  • Garden waste stickers changed from RFID tags to a yellow sticker. Pay before the brown bin shows on the checker. The garden page never says what the brown bin may hold.
  • Recycling bags and food caddies can be picked up at Flintshire Connects offices and household recycling centres. Bulky furniture and white goods are a separate charged collection, described from the kerbside page rather than priced there.

Bin questions in Flintshire

Does Flintshire come back for a missed recycling bag?

No. Recycling is weekly, so a missed recycling collection is noted and not re-run. Black bins, food caddies, garden bins and absorbent hygiene collections are different: crews aim to return within 3 working days, and a Friday starts that count on Monday.

How much is a Flintshire garden bin?

£38.00 online, by phone, or at Flintshire Connects. You need the new yellow sticker. Fortnightly collections run for nine months, with monthly collections added in December 2026, January 2027 and February 2027.

What can go in a Flintshire food caddy?

Peelings, meat and fish with bones and shells, dairy, bread, pasta, rice, eggshells, tea, coffee, plate scrapings and food past eating. Not liquids, oils, hot food, packaging, plastic liners, napkins, wipes or cutlery. The same page says leaving food in the black bin means it sits for two weeks.
