Gwynedd bin collection days

Gwynedd's weekly containers are the blue cartgylchu and the brown food bin. The green wheelie bin is leftover waste, not garden waste, and it is emptied every 3 weeks. Homes without a wheelie bin can put out up to 3 black sacks on that same three-week collection. A brown garden bin is a paid extra, and new orders are not open.

Garden waste

Garden waste is a paid-for service. Ordering is closed for now. Gwynedd says the 2027 form will appear on the garden page shortly. The 2026 price was £41 a year for 22 collections and one brown bin emptied every two weeks. Each extra bin was £34 a year, and a house could order up to 4 brown bins. You do not get a new bin with the fee. The 2026 season was a fixed price from the week commencing 26 January 2026 until the end of November or early December 2026, with no collections over Christmas and New Year or during January. After payment, a sticker was due within 10 working days, and only a bin with that sticker was collected. A missing bin is a call to 01766 771000.

If your bin was missed

Check the calendar first, then check the bin or box was out for a collection that runs between 6am and 6pm, and look for a sticker explaining unsuitable items. Gwynedd then takes a report online, which needs an account, or by phone on 01766 771000. The time can change from week to week, so the when-is page says to put containers out the night before.

Good to know in Gwynedd

  • The cartgylchu is three stacked boxes. Paper and card go in the top, cans, foil, aerosols, plastic bottles, pots, tubs, trays and cartons in the middle, and glass bottles and jars in the lower box. Extra recycling can use a traditional blue box, separated the same way.
  • Soft plastics, wrapping, crisp packets, cling film, polystyrene and gas canisters stay out of the middle box. Gwynedd says many supermarkets take the soft plastics, and gas canisters go to a recycling centre.
  • The 22 litre food bin takes cooked and raw food, including curry, gravy and plate scraps, lined with the bags the council provides. More liners are a note on the bin on collection day, or a visit to Siop Gwynedd. Milk and oil stay out.
  • Crews work between 6am and 6pm and the time can move. Put the containers out the night before. The contact number on the when-is page is 01766 771000.
  • Nappies can be a weekly yellow sack if you apply. Clinical waste, including medicine, dressings and needles, is arranged by the community nurse rather than the bin round.
  • The green bin does not take electricals, builders' waste or side waste. In Gwynedd the garden bin is brown, and the green bin is the rubbish bin. Mixing those colours up is the mistake the pages are written to prevent.
  • Garden orders cannot be placed at the moment. The page still publishes the 2026 terms: £41, 22 collections, a sticker within 10 working days, and no new bin included. There is no Christmas or New Year garden collection, and none in January.

Bin questions in Gwynedd

How often does Gwynedd collect the green bin?

Every 3 weeks. That is the green wheelie bin, or up to 3 black sacks where there is no wheelie bin. The blue cartgylchu and the brown food bin are every week. Collections run from 6am to 6pm.

Can I still order a Gwynedd garden bin?

Not at the moment. The page says the 2027 form is coming. For 2026 the fee was £41 a year for 22 collections of one brown bin every two weeks, from the week commencing 26 January 2026 until late November or early December, with extra bins at £34 a year.

What if a Gwynedd bin was left full?

Confirm it was due, that it was out for the 6am to 6pm window, and that there is no sticker about unsuitable items. Then report it online, creating an account if you need one, or phone 01766 771000.
