Nuneaton and Bedworth bin collection days

Nuneaton and Bedworth uses a black bin for rubbish, a brown-lid bin for recycling, and a green bin that takes garden waste and leftover food together. The green bin is a paid subscription. Recycling has to be loose in the brown-lid bin, not bagged. Vapes and lithium batteries stay out of every kerbside bin.

Food waste and the national recycling rules

Nuneaton and Bedworth does not collect food waste every week. Food is not on a weekly caddy. It goes in the paid green bin with garden waste, collected once every two weeks, or in the black bin if you have not subscribed. Carrier bags, soil and animal waste will contaminate the green bin and are refused.

Garden waste

Garden waste is a paid-for service. The green bin is £45 per bin per year. You can subscribe for as many bins as you want, and each one is another £45. There is no instalment plan and no refund if you stop mid-year. A move inside the borough can take the subscription with you at no extra charge. The council says the service costs it £500,000 a year to run, which is why it is no longer free. The subscription runs from 1 February to 31 January, with a two-week break in January, which the council counts as 25 times a year. Pay by 31 January for a full year. Paying later still ends on 31 January the following year, so you get less than 12 months. A sticker for that 12-month period has to be on the bin or it will not be emptied. Without a subscription, garden waste can go to Judkins household waste recycling centre.

If your bin was missed

Use the missed bin report. A bin of the wrong materials is not a miss: it will not be collected, and a hanger on the bin should say why. The same applies if the bin was not out when the crew were in the area. A rejected bin waits until the next collection. Missed bins must be reported within two working days. Put the black bin and the brown-lid bin out by 7:00am, and bring them back within 24 hours.

Good to know in Nuneaton and Bedworth

  • The black bin is for what cannot be recycled or composted: nappies, CD cases, polystyrene, thin polythene, hard plastics, wrapping paper, and food-soiled items that will not wash. Food can go in it only if you have not signed up for the green bin. The page does not state the gap between black bin collections. It points you to a collection-day lookup.
  • The brown-lid bin takes paper and card in the body of the bin, plus cans, glass, aerosols, foil and a stated list of plastic bottles, tubs and punnets. Rinse them. Leave bottle tops attached. Shredded paper should be wrapped in newspaper, put in a cardboard box, or put in a paper bag. Nothing in a sack is taken. Only a reasonable amount of extra cardboard is taken, and it must be no larger than the wheeled bin. A bin that is too heavy is left.
  • Food and garden waste share the green bin. Food includes meat, fish, dairy, peelings, plate scrapings, tea bags and coffee grounds. Garden waste includes grass, prunings, weeds, leaves, flowers, small branches, and bedding from rabbits or guinea pigs. Soil, rubble, animal waste, carrier bags, plant pots, plastic flowers, solar lights and ornaments contaminate the load.
  • The green bin costs £45 a bin for the year 1 February to 31 January. Of 302 garden waste schemes the council counted in England, 184, or 61%, make a charge. Nearby Rugby, Hinckley and Bosworth, Tamworth and Lichfield do too. You do not have to join. If you do not, Judkins in Nuneaton takes the garden waste. The council asks you to keep the bin even if you do not subscribe, because the next occupier might.
  • Collections of the green bin are once every two weeks except a two-week break in January, 25 times a year. Pay by 31 January if you want the full year. There is no monthly plan and no money back if you cancel after paying. A sticker showing the 12-month period has to be fixed to the bin or the crew will leave it.
  • Black bin rubbish is incinerated at an energy-from-waste plant to make electricity. Vapes and lithium batteries must not go in any kerbside bin because of the fire risk. Judkins has a container for vapes, and shops run take-back schemes.
  • Put bins out by 7:00am and take them in within 24 hours. Report a genuine miss within two working days. If the crew left a hanger, the bin was rejected, not missed, and it will not come back until the next scheduled day once you have sorted it.
  • As of 3 October 2026 the pages read did not publish a Christmas collection calendar. The only seasonal pause they spell out is the two-week gap in the green bin service in January.

Bin questions in Nuneaton and Bedworth

How often does Nuneaton and Bedworth collect the green bin?

Once every two weeks, except a two-week break in January, which the council describes as 25 times a year. The black bin page does not state an interval. It tells you to look up the collection day.

How much is the Nuneaton and Bedworth green bin?

£45 per bin per year, from 1 February to 31 January. Extra bins are another £45 each. Paying after 31 January does not extend the end date, and there is no refund and no instalment option.

What must stay out of the Nuneaton and Bedworth green bin?

Animal waste, soil, rubble, plastic carrier bags, plastic flowers, plant pots, solar lights, garden ornaments, and ordinary refuse or recycling. Those items contaminate the composting load.

How do I put the brown-lid bin out?

By 7:00am, with the lid fully closed and nothing in a sack. Extra cardboard has to be no larger than the wheeled bin. Bring the bin back within 24 hours. Vapes and lithium batteries must not go in it.

What if my bin was not emptied in Nuneaton and Bedworth?

Report it within two working days, and only if it was out and the contents were right. Wrong materials, or a bin that was not out, are rejections. Check the hanger. Those bins wait until the next collection. Have containers out by 7:00am.
