Braddan bin collection days

Braddan wraps around the west of Douglas, from Union Mills and Strang out to the Baldwins and down to Port Soderick, and is one of the two Manx authorities with a kerbside recycling round. Domestic bins are emptied every Tuesday, except Mount Rule and the Baldwins on Thursdays, and recycling boxes are collected fortnightly on one of three days depending on where you live.

Check your bin day

Use Braddan’s own page for your bin day

Isle of Man local authorities publish collection days as fixed weekdays, road lists, maps or PDF calendars rather than an address search BinWeek’s lookup service can query, so the page links to the authority’s own page and lets you set your own bin day.

These dates are the ones you enter. BinWeek does not get them from Braddan. Check them on the council’s site (opens in a new tab) (braddan.im).

Good to know in Braddan

  • Domestic collections are every Tuesday, except for residents of Mount Rule and the Baldwins, where they are every Thursday. Put the bin out the day before, because the contractors start early, and leave it at the curtilage of your property, at the end of the drive or path as close to the public highway as possible.
  • Recycling is fortnightly on three days: Wednesdays for North Braddan (Union Mills, Strang, Mount Rule, Baldwin, Cronkbourne, Clybane and The Cooil), Thursdays for Richmond Hill, Kewaigue and Port Soderick, and Fridays for Mount Murray. Boxes come from the Commissioners or from the recycling contractor, Recycle Collect Ltd, whose website carries the collections calendar.
  • Do not use the wheelie bin for grass cuttings, hedge clippings or other garden waste; take them to the Eastern Civic Amenity Site at Middle Park in Braddan, which also takes large items, some for a charge. Assisted collections for elderly or disabled households are requested on a form returned to the Commissioners.
  • Public bring banks are at Union Mills Trading Estate (glass, cans, paper and textiles), the former Commissioners’ offices at Close Corran (glass, cans, paper and textiles) and Riley’s Garden Centre (glass, cans and paper).
  • Commercial refuse is collected every Friday and charged by collection, weight and bin hire, with bins in four sizes. Damaged domestic bins are repaired or replaced by the contractor once you contact the Commissioners.
  • The Isle of Man Government lists Braddan’s refuse rate for 2026/27 as £122 per household.
