South Kesteven collects general waste fortnightly and is rolling out a weekly food caddy, with a start date on its pages of the week of 13 April 2026. Garden waste is a paid green bin, £55 for the 2026/2027 year. The pages we could read do not list everything that goes in the recycling bins: the what-goes-in tool is a search, so this page sticks to the food caddy, the garden bin and the rules for a missed collection.

South Kesteven collects food waste every week. South Kesteven's food waste page says household collections start in the week of 13 April 2026 and that the outdoor caddy is emptied every week. Homes get a 5 litre grey kitchen caddy, a black 23 litre outdoor caddy with an orange lid, and a first roll of liners. There is no subscription. Food is sent to an anaerobic digestion plant in Lincolnshire, not put in with garden waste.
Garden waste is a paid-for service. The 2026/2027 garden waste fee is £55 for the year, the same however you pay. The council says that works out at just under £2.40 for each of the 23 collections. A new customer pays £100, made up of a £30 bin, £15 delivery and a collection fee of £55. The 2026/2027 season is open. Existing Direct Debits are called on Monday 23 March 2026. Green bin stickers are sent from Monday 9 March 2026 and can take up to 10 working days.
Use the council's form. It will not send the crew back if the wrong bin was out, the recycling or garden bin was contaminated, side waste was left next to a wheelie bin, the bin was not at the boundary, or it was put out after 7am and the round had already passed. Assisted collections do not have to be at the boundary. Leave bins out from 7am. Report a miss after 3pm, because crews may still be working, and within two working days of the usual day.
The food page says general waste is still collected fortnightly, and that until the caddy is in use food is collected in that bin. Once you have the caddy, food can still go in the general waste bin, but the council asks you to separate it. No kerbside waste in Lincolnshire is sent to landfill. Residual waste goes to the Lincolnshire Energy from Waste plant.
The outdoor caddy is black, 23 litre, with an orange lid, and it is emptied every week. The kitchen caddy is grey and 5 litre. You get one of each free, plus a first roll of liners. Bread bags, newspaper or kitchen roll can replace the council liners. The council asks you not to use black liners, so crews can see the waste. The small caddy can go in a dishwasher.
Liquids such as milk do not go in the caddy. A little used oil is allowed if bread soaks it up and it has cooled. Packaging should come off at home. If the caddy has the wrong things in it, crews leave a hanger and do not take it. Nothing is collected from beside the caddy.
Garden waste is composted outdoors and the council says that process is for grass cuttings, leaves and plants, not food. The 2026/2027 subscription is £55, which the council describes as 23 collections at just under £2.40 each. There is no limit to how many garden bins you can buy. Last year more than 32,000 customers joined.
A new garden customer pays £100: £30 for the bin, £15 for delivery and a collection fee of £55. Stickers go out from Monday 9 March 2026. Allow up to 10 working days. Direct Debit payers are charged on Monday 23 March 2026.
Wheelie-bin households cannot leave side waste or extra sacks. Bins go out from 7am. Report a miss after 3pm and within two working days. The collection day checker is on the council's bin day page.
The food page also mentions a paper and card recycling bin in a photograph, but it does not list what that bin takes. As of 3 October 2026 the council had not published a dated Christmas timetable on the pages we read. It says food collections may move slightly for bank holidays and that it will tell residents the new days.
