St Andrew bin collection days

St Andrew is Guernsey’s only landlocked parish, in the centre of the island, and the whole parish has one collection night: Thursday. Refuse and recycling go out on Thursday evening by a quarter to ten, with the materials alternating weekly between clear bags with black bags and blue bags with glass. Food caddies go out every week.

Last checked against 3 sources (www.standrews.org.gg, www.gov.gg).

Check your bin day

Use St Andrew’s own page for your bin day

Guernsey collection nights come from the States of Guernsey’s My Bin Night address search, which runs in the browser and is not something BinWeek’s lookup service can query, so the page links to it and to the parish and lets you set your own bin night.

Your nearest tip

Good to know in St Andrew

  • Kerbside collection is on Thursday night across the parish. Put everything out on Thursday evening by a quarter to ten.
  • The materials alternate weekly. In the first week it is food waste, the clear bag for paper and cardboard and the black bag of general refuse. In the second week it is food waste, the blue bag for tins, cans, plastics, foil and cartons, and the reusable glass bag.
  • Every black bag needs a prepaid refuse charge sticker, sold at supermarkets and convenience stores. There is no restriction on the number of black bags on a black bag night provided each one is stickered; recycling bags need no sticker.
  • Two charges sit behind the service: the Waste Authority’s annual fixed charge, invoiced to householders in February, and the parish’s own charge for the cost of collections, which is considered at the Parish Meeting in the spring.
  • Pyrex and drinking glasses do not go in the glass bag; they can be taken to the Household Waste and Recycling Centre at Longue Hougue.
