St Sampson bin collection days

St Sampson, Guernsey’s second town in the north-east of the island, has its kerbside collections arranged by the St Sampson Douzaine. Its refuse page points residents to the States of Guernsey’s My Bin Calendar for their night and bag week, sets a window of eight in the evening to 10.30pm for putting bags out, and explains how Guernsey Waste polices bags that are set out wrongly.

Last checked against 3 sources (www.gov.gg, www.stsampson.gg).

Check your bin day

Use St Sampson’s own page for your bin day

Guernsey collection nights come from the States of Guernsey’s My Bin Night address search, which runs in the browser and is not something BinWeek’s lookup service can query, so the page links to it and to the parish and lets you set your own bin night.

If your bin was missed

Genuine missed collections, where bags were set out on the correct night with the correct payment sticker and have not been labelled with a red sticker by the contractor, are handled by the parish. The St Sampson Douzaine is on 01481 244130; the States of Guernsey’s bin night page likewise directs missed collections to the Parish Constables.

Your nearest tip

Good to know in St Sampson

  • Your collection night and the materials due each week come from the States of Guernsey’s My Bin Calendar: enter your house name or postcode and pick your address. There is no limit on the number of recycling bags or stickered black bags you can leave out.
  • Bags should go out from eight in the evening and before 10.30pm on the evening before collection, so that cats, dogs and gulls do not get at them. Garden waste and appliances are not covered by the refuse rates and should not be put out.
  • Guernsey Waste holds enforcement powers delegated by the parishes for non-compliant set-outs: waste put out on the wrong night, without a pay-as-you-throw sticker, or with the wrong sticker for the size of bag. Non-compliant bags at a recognised set-out point are Guernsey Waste’s concern; anything else is fly-tipping or littering, which it does not clear or investigate.
  • The parish page explains that dumped black bags count as fly-tipping and that clearing them falls on the landowner, with Environmental Health or the Police investigating only where there is evidence such as a witness or CCTV.
  • Recycling bags and caddy liners are free from most supermarkets, and payment stickers are sold in packs of four through Guernsey Post and Manor Farm Foods.
