St Martin (Guernsey) bin collection days

St Martin, on Guernsey’s south-east coast, is the one parish that publishes a full road-by-road table of set-out days: every parish road is listed against Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, and all refuse and kerbside recycling must be out by 10pm for collection during the night. Which bags go out that week comes from the States of Guernsey’s My Bin Night.

If your bin was missed

The States of Guernsey directs missed collections to the Parish Constables. The Constables of St Martin are at La Grande Rue, on 01481 238363. Note that the parish says no collection is made where parked cars block the contractor’s access.

Good to know in St Martin (Guernsey)

  • The parish table lists each road with its set-out day. Broadly, Monday covers the Saints Bay, Icart and Moulin Huet side and estates such as Hartlebury and Oakmore Drive; Tuesday covers La Grande Rue, Route de Jerbourg, Les Merriennes and the Ville Amphrey estate; and Wednesday covers Fermain, Calais, Les Hubits, Route de Sausmarez and Forest Road. Several long roads are split between days, so find your own entry on the parish page.
  • All refuse and kerbside recycling should be out by 10pm on your set-out day, because the contractor collects during the night.
  • The parish asks residents of estates to park carefully, especially at night: if the contractor’s vehicle cannot get in, neither can the fire brigade or an ambulance, and no collection is made where access is blocked.
  • For which bags to put out in a given week, the parish links to the States of Guernsey’s My Bin Night search, where you enter your postcode.
  • The island rules apply: stickered rubbish bags, free blue and clear recycling bags and caddy liners from supermarkets, and a reusable glass bag for bottles and jars.
