St Peter Port bin collection days

St Peter Port is Guernsey’s capital and its Constables arrange the kerbside collections, which account for more than half of a household’s annual parish rates and are billed separately. Food waste is collected every week; the clear bag, blue bag, residual black bag and glass bag are collected every other week on an alternating pattern set out in the parish’s 2026 calendar.

Guernsey collection nights come from the States of Guernsey’s My Bin Night address search, which runs in the browser and is not something BinWeek’s lookup service can query, so the page links to it and to the parish and lets you set your own bin night.

Your nearest tip

Good to know in St Peter Port

  • The 2026 Kerbside Collection Calendar on the parish website shows which bags go out each week. Food waste goes out every week; blue bag, clear bag, residual waste and glass are each collected every other week. Your collection night itself comes from the States of Guernsey’s My Bin Night search.
  • Bags go out no earlier than the night before collection and only on your collection day. The parish warns that bags left out at other times are torn open by cats and gulls, which attracts rats, and that the contractor will not take broken sacks or clear up spills; re-bagging is the householder’s job.
  • Plastic bin liners, carrier bags and cardboard boxes are not approved containers and are not collected. Dustbins must be safe to handle, sacks strong enough for their contents, and nothing heavier than one person can lift to shoulder height.
  • Cardboard should be bagged in clear recycling bags; larger pieces that will not bag go to the Household Waste and Recycling Centre at Longue Hougue. Green waste is for home composting or the household green waste site at Chouet.
  • When a road is closed, take sacks to whichever end of the road is nearest your property, or ring the office for advice. Bank holiday changes are posted on the parish website and its social media.
  • The parish points out that putting rubbish on the public highway other than at a normal collection time is an offence, and that offenders are reported to the Police.
