Jersey bin collections by parish

In Jersey your bins are a parish service. Each of the twelve parishes sets its own collection days and rules, so start with your parish.

12 parishes with a page. 12 have its collection rules written up so far; the rest link to the official page.

How bin collections work in Jersey

Jersey has no council in the UK sense. Household rubbish is collected by the parish you live in, and each parish decides which day it comes, what it will take and how it handles recycling and glass. Some parishes run the rounds with their own staff and some use a contractor, which is why two neighbouring parishes can have quite different arrangements.

The Government of Jersey looks after what happens next: it runs the island’s energy recovery facility and the household reuse and recycling centre at La Collette in St Helier, and publishes island-wide guidance on what can be recycled. Its rubbish collections page points you to your parish, and so do we.

Every parish page here links to the parish’s own refuse page and says when we last read it. Where a parish publishes its collection days road by road we summarise the pattern and link the official list rather than copy it, because the parish’s list is the one that changes first.

Not sure which parish you are in? Your postcode sector usually tells us: try the postcode box on the home page. Jersey’s parishes are also listed in the A to Z of every area BinWeek covers.

Using a JE postcode on BinWeek

Jersey postcodes are not in the UK address data our house-level lookup uses, so the postcode box works at the postcode-sector level here: it takes you to the page for the parish your sector mostly falls in. Where a sector straddles two areas, or the postcode is a PO box, you land on this page instead. Pick your area below, and on its page you can set your own collection days to get a reminder.
