St Peter bin collection days

St Peter, in the west of Jersey and home to the airport, runs its refuse collection with one person per vehicle, so the round can start early and finish late. The parish asks for bins to be left out the night before in a place accessible from the roadside, and publishes a road list for Monday to Thursday collections.

Last checked against 2 sources (stpeter.je, www.gov.je).

Check your bin day

Use St Peter’s own page for your bin day

Jersey parishes publish their collection days as road lists, calendars or PDFs rather than an address lookup BinWeek can query, so the page links to the parish’s own list and you can set your own bin day.

Garden waste

The council does not offer a garden waste collection. The parish says garden refuse will not be collected with household waste and should be taken to the green waste site at La Collette.

If your bin was missed

St Peter’s page does not name a missed-bin contact. The Government of Jersey says to report a missed collection to your parish, with Parish Hall details on the Comité des Connétables website. Because the round runs with one person per vehicle, a bin that was not accessible from the road is the most common reason for a miss.

Good to know in St Peter

  • The weekly round is split across four days. Monday covers Five Mile Road, Val de la Mare, School Estate and the Rue des Nièmes area; Tuesday covers La Hougue, Main Road, Oak Walk, Mont Fallu and Old Beaumont Hill; Wednesday takes in the Airport, St Peter’s Valley, Coin Varin and Les Augerez; and Thursday covers Beaumont, Sandybrook, Mont des Vignes and the Route de la Haule stretch to Cannon and L’Hermitage Gardens. The full list is on the parish page.
  • Because there is one operative per vehicle, the parish says the service may start earlier and end later than you expect. Leave bins out the night before, accessible from the roadside.
  • Refuse must be in a bin or receptacle rather than a plastic sack or box, and liquids such as cooking oil and paint must not go in. For oils and paints the parish gives the Government of Jersey infrastructure department’s number, 01534 445509.
  • Glass should be in a dustbin or similar container that can be emptied straight into the vehicle, rinsed, lids off and kept apart from refuse. The parish lists metals, ceramics, sharps, carrier bags, lamps and tubes, window frames and rubble as things that must not be mixed in. Its page also covers commercial glass collections.
  • Garden refuse is not collected and goes to the green waste site at La Collette. Some parts of the Island have recyclables such as newspapers and tins collected alongside refuse; the parish says to check with it for what is available in your area.
