St Helier bin collection days

St Helier is Jersey’s town parish and runs its own refuse team rather than a contractor. Residential waste is collected on a set weekday every week and recycling every fortnight. The parish page has a road search that shows your two collection days, and, unusually for Jersey, some town roads have no kerbside glass collection and use glass bin recycling locations instead.

Last checked against 3 sources (www.gov.je, sthelier.je).

Check your bin day

Use St Helier’s own page for your bin day

Jersey parishes publish their collection days as road lists, calendars or PDFs rather than an address lookup BinWeek can query, so the page links to the parish’s own list and you can set your own bin day.

If your bin was missed

The parish refuse team can be reached on 01534 811708 or by email, and the Government of Jersey says missed collections are reported to the parish. The parish page says collections continue as normal on bank holidays apart from Christmas, and any change is announced in the Town Crier, on the website and on social media.

Good to know in St Helier

  • Your days come from the road search on the parish waste services page. Pick your road and it shows the next refuse collection, then weekly, and the next recycling collection, then fortnightly. BinWeek cannot run that search for you, so use the parish page and then set your own bin day here.
  • Collections generally carry on as normal on bank holidays. The exception is the Christmas period, and the parish says any schedule change is published in the Town Crier, on its website and on its social media channels.
  • Glass is different in St Helier. The Government of Jersey says that if you live in St Helier your road may not have a kerbside glass collection, in which case you take bottles and jars to one of the parish’s glass bin recycling locations. The parish page covers its recycling services, public bring sites and commercial glass rates.
  • The same page sets out commercial refuse: every commercial premises is entitled to two refuse collections a week, with extra weekday, Saturday, Sunday and one-off collections available on a six-monthly Additional Refuse Contract. New businesses are asked to contact the refuse team with a waste management plan.
  • The parish hires out bins for events, with a minimum of fourteen days’ notice and separate order forms for events inside and outside the parish.

Bin questions in St Helier

How do I find my bin day in St Helier?

Use the road search on the parish waste services page. It gives your weekly refuse day and your fortnightly recycling day. BinWeek links to it and lets you save the day yourself.

Are St Helier bins collected on bank holidays?

Usually yes. The parish says collections tend to continue as normal on bank holidays except over Christmas, and it announces any change in the Town Crier, online and on social media.

Does St Helier collect glass from the kerb?

Not on every road. The Government of Jersey says some St Helier roads have no kerbside glass service, so residents use the parish’s glass bin recycling locations.
