St Mary bin collection days

St Mary is Jersey’s smallest parish by population, in the north-west of the Island, and the only one with a single refuse day for everyone: household refuse is collected every Wednesday morning, with bins out on Tuesday evening. Recycling and glass are collected together once a month on the second Thursday, and everything must be out before 5am.

Last checked against 2 sources (stmary.je, www.gov.je).

Check your bin day

Use St Mary’s own page for your bin day

Jersey parishes publish their collection days as road lists, calendars or PDFs rather than an address lookup BinWeek can query, so the page links to the parish’s own list and you can set your own bin day.

These dates are the ones you enter. BinWeek does not get them from St Mary. Check them on the council’s site (opens in a new tab) (stmary.je).

Garden waste

The council does not offer a garden waste collection. The parish says garden refuse will not be collected with household waste and should be taken to the green waste site at La Collette.

If your bin was missed

St Mary’s page does not give a separate missed-bin contact, so follow the Government of Jersey’s advice and report a missed collection to the parish; Parish Hall details are on the Comité des Connétables website. The whole parish is collected on the same day, so a missed bin is easy to describe.

Good to know in St Mary

  • Refuse is weekly on Wednesday mornings across the whole parish. The parish asks for bins to go out on the Tuesday evening.
  • Recycling and glass share a monthly round on the second Thursday of each month. The parish page lists the twelve dates for the year, and everything must be at the kerb before 5am.
  • For what can go in the recycling the parish links to the Government of Jersey’s What you can and cannot recycle poster rather than publishing its own list. Glass must be rinsed, lids off and kept apart from refuse, with no metals, ceramics, sharps, carrier bags, fluorescent tubes, window frames or rubble mixed in.
  • Refuse must be in a bin or receptacle, not a sack or box, because gulls and rodents tear sacks open and the mess is the householder’s responsibility. Oils and paints must not go in the bin; the page gives the Government of Jersey’s infrastructure department number, 01534 445509, for disposal advice.
  • Garden refuse is not collected and goes to the green waste site at La Collette. The Island’s main household recycling centre is also at La Collette, with bring banks for paper, plastic bottles, cans and textiles around Jersey.
