St John bin collection days

St John is a rural parish on Jersey’s north coast with the simplest split of any parish: refuse is collected on Monday in the north of the parish and on Tuesday everywhere else. Glass is collected once a month, on the first Thursday for one set of roads and on the Friday after it for the rest, and the parish publishes both road lists.

Use St John’s own page for your bin day

Jersey parishes publish their collection days as road lists, calendars or PDFs rather than an address lookup BinWeek can query, so the page links to the parish’s own list and you can set your own bin day.

These dates are the ones you enter. BinWeek does not get them from St John. Check them on the council’s site (opens in a new tab) (stjohn.je).

Garden waste

The council does not offer a garden waste collection. The parish says garden refuse will not be collected with household waste and should be taken to the green waste site at La Collette.

Good to know in St John

  • Refuse days are Monday for the north of the parish and Tuesday for the other areas. The parish page does not list refuse roads individually, so if you are near the boundary ask the Parish Hall.
  • Glass has two monthly rounds. The first Thursday of each month covers roads including Rue de la Mare Ballam, La Route de St Jean, Rue de Sorel, Rue du Grand Mourier and Le Canibut. The Friday following that first Thursday covers roads including La Grande Route de Mont Mado, La Grande Route de St Jean, Rue de la Croix, Rue Militaire and Le Chemin de Bonne Nuit. The full lists are on the parish page.
  • Glass put out for collection should be in a dustbin or similar container that can be emptied straight into the vehicle, rinsed and with lids off. The collector may refuse glass that is not sorted and cleaned.
  • Refuse must be in a bin or receptacle, not a sack or box. For disposing of oils and paints the parish page refers residents to the Government of Jersey’s infrastructure department on 01534 445509.
  • Some parts of the Island have separated recyclables such as newspapers and tins taken with the refuse; the parish says to check with it for what is available in your area, and there are collection points around the Island.
